Sai Kung District IoT Fire Detection System Thematic Seminar cum Building Emergency Response Pioneer Course
  • Date: 2026年9月29日
  • Venue: Sai Kung Jockey Club Town Hall

The Fire Services Department (FSD), together with the Sai Kung District Fire Safety Committee and the Honorary Presidents’ Association of FSD Community Emergency Response Team (Sai Kung District), held the “Sai Kung District IoT Fire Detection System Thematic Seminar cum Building Emergency Response Pioneer Course” at the Sai Kung Jockey Club Town Hall today (29 September). The event introduced the scope of application and practical operating mechanism of the “IoT Fire Detection System”, and provided training and briefings on the “Building Emergency Response Pioneer” programme for participants, equipping them to safeguard fire safety in their own buildings!

The “IoT Fire Detection System” offers an alternative solution for occupants of old buildings in need of fire safety enhancement, addressing challenges such as high costs and lengthy construction periods.

  • Fast deployment: Short installation time to speed up fire safety improvement
  • Cost-effective: Lower costs to facilitate compliance with fire safety requirements
  • Smart monitoring: Round-the-clock non-stop monitoring to ensure proper system operation

The “Building Emergency Response Pioneer” course covers a wide range of topics, equipping members of the public and building stakeholders with comprehensive disaster prevention and emergency response knowledge.

  • Identify fire hazards: Detect issues such as ajar fire doors and obstructed escape routes for immediate follow-up action
  • Timely emergency response: In case of fire, correctly operate the building’s fire hose reels or fire extinguishers for initial fire fighting, and assist neighbours (especially elderly persons with limited mobility) to evacuate in an orderly manner for self-rescue and saving others
  • First-aid proficiency: Learn to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), operate automated external defibrillators (AED) and master other first-aid skills to render assistance whenever needed

FSD also distributed “Disaster Prevention and Emergency Kits” to attending members of the public to protect their safety and that of their families.

The FSD will continue to collaborate with different sectors of the community. Leveraging technology and knowledge, we will work hand in hand to build safer and more secure homes!
