DFSC (Yau Tsim Mong District)
Welcome message from the Chairman of DFSC

As the Chairperson of the Yau Tsim Mong District Fire Safety Committee, I am honoured to share our work and vision with you. The Yau Tsim Mong District is a densely populated area with bustling commercial and tourism activities blending the charm of old Hong Kong with metropolitan modernity. This unique characteristic of the District makes our fire safety works even more crucial.

Under the dynamic leadership of the Yau Tsim Mong District Office and the full support of the Hong Kong Fire Services Department, the Yau Tsim Mong District Fire Safety Committee has organised many activities to educate and promote fire safety in the District. These include:

1. Collaborating with Owners' Corporations to hold building fire drills
2. Promoting fire safety to the workers and all concerned in the new Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter and Public Cargo Working Area
3. Organizing fire drills and AED training for the Ethnic Minority community at Kowloon Masjid
4. Establishing the first District Fire & Ambulance Services Teen Connect (District Fast Connect) to enhance fire safety awareness among young people, promote national security education, encourage youth participation in community fire prevention to foster a sense of belonging and care for their community
5. Launching a Pilot Scheme on 3D Building Mapping (“Mapping Pilot Scheme”) to assist Owners' Corporations in addressing fire safety of their buildings.

During this two-year term of the Fire Safety Committee, the Yau Tsim Mong District Office, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department and our Committee will continue to launch various activities focusing on three major strategies: fire drills, youth education, and fire safety promotion to ethnic minorities, along with implementing our local fire safety policies.

To carry out our work effectively, the Committee has also found four working groups: "External Relation and Communication” ,"Large-scale Fire Prevention and Safety Education”, "Fire Drill and Publicity" and the "FAST Connect and Youth Development” to promote and execute various fire safety activities.

Looking ahead, we will continue our commitment to promoting and educating the public fire safety awareness and prevention measures, making the Yau Tsim Mong District a safer and more harmonious community.
