Welcome message from the Chairman of DFSC
As the Chairman of the Eastern District Fire Safety Committee (EDFSC), I deeply acknowledge the significant responsibilities entrusted to me to join efforts with all our members to enhance active community involvement in promoting fire safety and building safety, and strengthen the capabilities of the general public in dealing with emergencies and contingencies.
We actively promote the importance of fire prevention within the district through public education and publicity activities like fire safety talks and workshops to heighten public awareness of fire safety in a bid to reduce fire risk. During the Chung Yeung Festival Hill Fire Prevention Publicity Activity, we interacted with the public with the aim to raise public awareness and vigilance about the risk of wildfires. Moreover, we spare no effort in instilling the concept of “Self-help and Help Others” within the district through cooperation with owners’ corporations, owners’ committees and owners/residents of the buildings to promote and assist in the organisation of fire drills, as well as promoting the installation of automatic external defibrillator (AED) in residential areas and organising briefings to encourage the utilisation during emergencies. These activities effectively enhanced public safety awareness and capabilities.
The Fire Services Department (FSD) has set up the Community Collaboration Network which is committed to providing the public with efficient and effective fire and ambulance services. The EDFSC will work in close collaboration with the FSD to ensure effective dissemination of fire safety information to the community for better public understanding and comprehensive enhancement of the level of fire safety within the district.
