On the eve of the typhoon season, the coordination and emergency response capabilities of various departments were put to the test.
The Fire Services Department (FSD) participated in a inter-departmental exercise codenamed "北宿", organized by the Home Affairs Department North District Office. The drill, tailored to the unique characteristics of the North District, aimed to enhance interdepartmental coordination and crisis management skills.
The exercise simulated a scenario where citizens went missing after a small boat capsized. Firefighters conducted surface and underwater search-and-rescue operations, ultimately successfully recovering the missing individuals.
Additionally, staff of FSD shared practical experiences and rescue strategies from past emergencies with other departments, while introducing specialized rescue tools. These efforts collectively aimed to improve efficiency in responding to extreme weather events.
