The "28th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR cum Kwun Tong District Emergency Preparedness Awareness Day" event was successfully held.
This event was co-organized by the Fire Services Department and the Kwun Tong District Office, the event was attended by representatives from the District Fire Safety Committee (Kwun Tong District), FSD Community Emergency Responder Honorary Presidents’ Association (Kwun Tong District), FSD Community Emergency Responder (Kwun Tong District), Care Team (Kwun Tong), as well as firefighters led by the Divisional Commander (Kowloon East) CHU Man Chiu and the Deputy Divisional Commander (Kowloon East) HO Kin-ho.
On the day of the event, the team walk into the community, including the squatter area of Cha Kwo Ling Village, the "three-nil" buildings on Fan Wa Street, the vicinity of the Lei Yue Mun Archway and the Yau Tong MTR Station to promote emergency preparedness knowledge and enhance residents' preparedness. At the Cha Kwo Ling Community Liaison Centre, a seminar was held to teach residents about coping with extreme weather, fire safety knowledge, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). Member of FSD also demonstrated the operation of tree-cutting tools.
Besides, three treasures for fire protection (fire extinguishers, fire blankets and stand-alone fire detectors) were distributed to the residents of the "three-nil" buildings on Fan Wa Street to improve fire safety in old buildings.
Finally, in the busy areas around the Lei Yue Mun Archway and the Yau Tong MTR Station, fire prevention and emergency preparedness leaflets were distributed to the pedestrian to promote emergency preparedness awareness. This event successfully enhanced the public's emergency preparedness awareness and we work together to build a safer community.
